The Dead are close's a good feeling really.

Laura Balombini

I moved to New Mexico 3 years ago. I've been observing traditions, celebrations, cultural events and ceremonies. Dia de Los Muertos reminds us that our friends and family that have passed ..linger in our hearts and memories..and we pay them tribute during this festival. I tend to not like appropriating symbols of other cultures that are not my own but having lost many people close to me I also know that they are as near as my imagination will let them come. Painting their faces and seeing them smile is some comfort now and I feel the reassurance that they are close by.
