Simplifying the Landscape in Pastel

Spend the day in cool Corales painting the landscape in a shady courtyard.
This workshop will teach you
▪ what to leave out
▪ how to simplify shapes to make a strong painting
▪ secrets to selecting colors based on value
▪ some nifty tools to see color and value clearly
We will work from your photographs or from life.
A delicious lunch of pizza from next door will be provided.
$95 + $20 materials fee
Carolyn Caldwell is an artist who paints contemporary landscapes with an abstract soul. She shows her work in galleries in Portland, Me; Dallas, TX; Milford, DE, and Corrales, NM. She received a degree in art from the University of Montana, and a degree architecture from Boston Architectural College. She was born in California and lived in England and Japan as a child. She spent 16 years in St. John Virgin Islands as an architect. She moved to Maine to become a professional painter and now lives in Helena, Montana.
She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and has taught pastel workshops in Maine, Cape Cod, Tuscany and Montana.
